Original Compositions

I’d like to take the chance to share some of my original compositions. It’s been ages since I composed, but I still hold onto these gems created in Finale to accompany my books.

1. Cleocatriss

A song inspired by one of the short stories in my Legends of Surprisers collection.

2. Song of Healing

A song from my personalized children’s book, Song Quest, published with BookByYou.

3. Wolf’s Requiem

A song from my personalized children’s book, Song Quest, published with BookByYou.

4. Butterfly Fantasia

A song from my personalized children’s book, Song Quest, published with BookByYou.

5. The Silver Stag/Reflection

An original composition inspired by Book 4 in my series, The Gailean Quartet, where music plays an important part in many of the magic and fantasy elements.

6. Zale

A short but bright, whimsical piece inspired by Zale, one of the four dragon-ruled dynasties from Bloodmaiden.

7. The Pirates of Meleeon

A fun little tune accompanying my Christian/Fantasy book, The Pirates of Meleeon.

8. Crystal River

This song was originally one I came up with as a kid to accompany an adventure story I’d written with talking dogs and cats, along the lines of Homeward Bound and similar classics. The lyrics eventually made its way into Bloodmaiden, a much more serious, YA fantasy novel. I’m getting ready to release the second edition of Bloodmaiden this upcoming March.

The original lyrics are as follows:

Crystal River, tell me true,

Tell me what I ought to do;

Should I cross thy icy land

Frozen in time?

Crystal River, tell me true,

Tell me what I ought to do;

Should I stay or should I run?

I do not know.

Memory and dream forgot,

Still I must go on,

But when I feel that I cannot,

I sing this little song.

Crystal River, tell me true,

Tell me what I ought to do;

Should I stay or should I run?

Tell me my future;

I already know my past.
